There is a reason why those games are exceptions and not the rule.įor Hogwarts Legacy the gameplay looks fun, the castle looks absolutely amazing, the "random" events seem cool, and the character creator models are truly impressive. Not everything has to be as perfect as RDR2 or GTA V, and that is okay. Ubisoft games are replicated and sell well for a reason, and they represent massive investments as well as incredible talent and care.
Its a AAA action adventure open world RPG by an inexperienced developer made for PS4/Xbox One based on tried and tested gaming models of the handful of best-performing RPGs of the last few years (Witcher3, AC Odyssey, Breath of the Wild, etc.) I want to take a second to talk about expectations after the last showcase, because I think its valid to both be hyped and have loved what they showed, and be a little disappointed.įrom this showcase, which is their current build of the game, Hogwarts Legacy looks like a last gen ubisoft-style open world game with some pop-in and very limited A.I NPCs (not a criticism, pointing it out.) I think that it looks it because that is what the game is.
PSA: watch the showcase again in 4k, the livestream made the lip-syncing and animations look worse than they are.
